Maintenance Setup
Maintenance Setup is the group of screens in the left-hand Maintenance menu that control how the planned maintenance module behaves. It contains three items:
- Maintenance Settings - the options that control work order generation, tolerance and task assignment (this page)
- Service Interval Units - the calendar/usage units available for service intervals, see Service Interval Units
- Rules for Task and Work Order Assignment - the rules used to automatically assign work orders, see Task Assignment Rules
This page covers the Maintenance Settings screen.
Accessing Maintenance Settings
Navigate to Maintenance > Maintenance Setup > Maintenance Settings. This opens the Options in Class Generate Work Orders screen, a grid of name/value options.

Click a row's Code or Option Value to edit it, or select the row and use Edit above the grid.
What You Can Configure
| Setting | Purpose |
|---|---|
| GenerateWorkOrderClockReadingCalcRule | Stored procedure used for clock-reading (hours/odometer) based service intervals |
| GenerateWorkOrders | The transformation that runs when you generate work orders |
| GenerateWorkOrdersDate | Start date for the next work order generation run |
| GenerateWorkOrdersForward | Default look-ahead period, in days, for a generation run |
| GenerateWorkOrdersTolerance | Percentage tolerance for triggering early service |
| TaskAllocation | Whether work orders are automatically assigned to individuals and work centres |
| TaskAllocationTransform | Optional custom transformation for task assignment logic |
Each setting is described in full on the Maintenance Settings page.
When to Review These Settings
Review the Maintenance Settings screen:
- Before first use - to set initial values appropriate for your organization
- When changing work order generation frequency - ensure GenerateWorkOrdersForward matches your schedule frequency to avoid gaps or overlaps
- When adding consumption-based service plans - adjust GenerateWorkOrdersTolerance if the default 5% does not suit your assets
- When setting up automatic task assignment - configure TaskAllocation and, if needed, TaskAllocationTransform
Tip: If you schedule automatic work order generation as a batch job, set GenerateWorkOrdersForward to the same number of days as the batch job frequency. For example, if the batch job runs weekly, set this value to 7. This ensures each generation run picks up exactly where the last one left off, with no gaps or duplicate work orders.
