AI-powered recognition, new processes for Joiners and Leavers, security updates, search, and usability improvements
From network resilience to JIRA AI linking — new tools that keep your data flowing and your teams moving
;
Release Notes
New builds are released every 1-3 months.
Software recognition updates are released monthly and your existing instance will automatically
install these updates from our website if it has access.
Sometimes we release a version to individual customers.
Those versions are not listed below, but all releases include software recognition updates.
SAAS customers are regularly upgraded to the latest version automatically.
Build 7.3.52 includes new Joiners and Leavers functions, a new affinity model for matching custodians to assets,
network outage handling, improvements to Excel imports, stronger security with API tokens,
and improved batch processing. We can keep the app alive during network and server outages even in low signal areas,
and we have locked down our servers and software to 2025 US DoD standards - an update built for reliability and security.
We’ve also tuned the Collection Server, improved logging, and made setup easier.
Whats new in this release ?
General
Updated processes and flows for Joiners and Leavers, including asset receiving into storage and deployment to users
Improved tolerance for server and network outages, with user information and a continuous reconnection attempt
Improvements in data table presentation
Excel imports are now tolerant of blank lines at the end of the worksheet
Imports direct from Excel now support AM/PM formatted dates
Imports direct from Excel translate time zones based on user or batch time zone settings
API Tokens and Keys
API tokens now enable a specific functionality, such as PO approval or asset acceptance, to be encapsulated in a token
This allows for sessionless actions where the user does not have to login, but still receives a user interface during that action
Each token is single use and can only perform the single attended action
Tokens can require SSO authentication if required, even if the user is not a registered user
Custodian Affinity Model
A new affinity model allows automatic assignment of custodians to asset
A new field "Last User" signals who logged into the computer last, and history tracks changes to this field
Administrators choose one of three models:
Never change custodian - in this case all changes are done manually
Always change custodian - the last logged in user always becomes the custodian
Use affinity rules - after a time window has passed (e.g. 20 days), if a user hasn't logged in, the most frequent user in that period becomes the custodian
The system can also adopt the affinity rule of another data source such as Microsoft System Center
Security Improvements
Automated user group detection from Azure SSO now detects the correct model user group when no match was made
Server and product hardening upgraded to conform to 2025 STIG US DOD USAF guidelines
AI processing is now used to better guess user's proper names from email addresses
Batch Processor Improvements
Batch now successfully picks up new customer instances without a restart. Previously, the process sometimes stopped
Batch now reports and logs CPU usage of each batch job and all resident threads
The encoding of httpget requests can now be set
Discovery and Collection Server Improvements
Discovery Location to IP Mapping can now choose different collection servers within a subnet
Improvements to the Collection Server Installer
Collection Server automatically refreshes/flushes DNS when it loses connection e.g. during a failover
Improvements in Collection Server to allow the copying of files and folders to the app server
Deep logging of Collection Server activity can now be enabled
PCAnalyser now transmits its encrypted files with utf-8 and not CP-1252
Installer improvements include password packs and auto-install for .NET 8
This is a service release for VLDB customers who were experiencing performance issues with large batch jobs.
Whats new in this release ?
Users will no longer experience slowness, deadlocks or locking when large batch jobs are running
Sql optimizations to improve performance and avoid locking. All Sql Server on-prem databases can now use read committed snapshot isolation (RCSI)
Batch now uses a separate connection to query batch job status
Databases and logins now correctly operate when the database is set to read-only in MariaDB and Sql Server
Software Recognition Updates
Release Notes - Version 7.3.49
Overview
This build contains improvements to the password reset process, JIRA integration, installer, Construction in Progress,
and the software recognition engine.
Whats new in this release ?
Password reset email improvements
Improvements in the JIRA ticket asset matching algorithms based on customer feedback
Installer improvements
Improvements to Construction in Progress (CIP/CWIP)
Software Recognition Updates
Release Notes - Version 7.3.48
Overview
This build contains improvements to search, JIRA integration, asset images, code editor syntax coloring, email notifications,
and the software recognition engine and been rewritten to automatically recognise titles based on AI pattern matching.
Whats new in this release ?
Searching records now returns the best matching records at the top, instead of respecting the query sort order for filtered records
Assets now automatically show an image of the asset based on make and model within the Asset Edit screen
JIRA integration has been rewritten and now uses AI matching to link assets mentioned in a ticket
All xAssets languages including AMSX, XCS, and XDSL now have syntax coloring in the code editor
Email notifications can now include images
Modernized presentation of in-product help
The software recognition engine has been completely rewritten to use AI based version independent pattern matching
Software Recognition Updates
Release Notes - Version 7.3.47
Overview
7.3.47 contains enhancements to 7.3.44 including security fixes related to instance security, password reset processes, and discovery
includes further information useful to cybersecurity audits. It also contains an enhancement to multiple valued custom fields,
enabling sub tables and inter-table relationships to be hooked into any data model component and not just the "Asset" table.
Whats new in this release ?
Discovery now collects Windows Firewall data and other attributes useful to cybersecurity audits
API keys are now managed using a dedicated API key management screen
Reset password has been improved
New users now receive an email with a temporary password to set their password during login
Instances can now be locked down by IP address
Multiple valued custom fields can now be added to many tables, previously only the "Asset" table supported these
Detailed enhancements
PCanalyser now collects Windows Firewall data
PCanalyser is now complied with latest versions of VS2022. This results in larger executables, but the code is more secure and faster
Password validation now requires 14 characters and requiring modern levels of complexity
Date types can now be specified in API based queries, supporting sorting by date ascending or descending
AMSX2 commands have enhanced security for amsx system functions
Fixed a bug in Transformation Mailmerge where the destination was expecting a file to read the layout
Version 7.3.44 provides a new, simplified user interface, and adds key strategic functionality and building blocks
related to workflow, endpoint management and AI. We have rewritten the transformation engine
and several bulk operations including depreciation calculation, disposal, imports and integrations are now much faster.
