Operations Overview
This chapter covers the running-it side of SAM — what to schedule, what to monitor, what to clean up, and how to keep the engine performant on growing data. These are the tasks that an xAssets administrator owns rather than the SAM manager.

The Core Operational Loop
A healthy SAM operation looks like this:
Nightly: Discovery → Recognition → Load Now → Calculate Licensing Position
Weekly: Quick scan of License Dashboard for new red items
Monthly: Full data quality review on Licensing Calculation Steps tab
Quarterly: License reclaim sweep, OEM license refresh
Annually: Recognition database verification, scheduled job audit
Each item is automatable; the role of operations is to keep the schedule running and intervene when something breaks.
